Based on the concept of love for the sake of love,
to live REVO every day is to think beyond ourselves and redefine our modern conception of necessity.
REVO is a movement. It connects you to a young orphan in Sudan, to Hurricane Katrina victims, to the students at Virginia Tech, to someone living with HIV/AIDS in New York City, to the War in Uganda, sex slaves in Thailand, to Turkey, to the ends of the earth. There are social injustices and stories tucked away in all of the world, stories of illness and poverty, hunger and abandonment, fear of every waking moment, fear of tomorrow and we want to tell their stories. REVO gives every person the opportunity to help make the world just a little bit better, a little more livable, a little less fearful. We can — and want to! — proffer help to those who need help, yet most of us don’t know what to do or where to begin. There are many notable organizations dedicated to doing great things — REVO wants to help these organizations and ensure that they have the funds they need to execute these dreams. With the donations we gather, we can contribute to what these organizations are already doing. We are not limited by geography. We want to help wherever there is help needed.
Art is a way of responding to our experiences. Through our art, we can capture a piece of reality — the beauty and the agony. As the viewer stands at the canvas of oily blue, hears a song that makes his heart beat fast, or experiences light as it is captured through a lens, a connection happens between artist-and-audience, art-and-world. On March 19, 2008, REVO New York is collaborating with The Gallery Church of Manhattan for a night of fine art, music, fashion, and photography to raise money for Health People in New York City and Mocha Club in Africa. We’d like to invite you to be part of this revolutionary movement and a revolutionary heart we call REVO.
